Two Eureka parks scheduled for face lift

EUREKA., Ca (KIEM)- Those visiting the Del Norte street pier and Hammond Park will soon be seeing some considerable changes.

Just over five hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars will be put into new playgrounds, basketball courts, and public restrooms. The funding comes from California’s Parks and Recreation Department, and California’s Housing-Related Parks Program. The ground-breaking for these projects will take place within the next month.

For Eureka City Manager, Greg Sparks, he says having more areas of play has many ways of benefiting the entire community. In addition to these park upgrades, the City of Eureka plans to improve the public restrooms in old town as well.
