Two injured in single vehicle crash

LEGGETT – Two members of the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office suffer major injuries in a single-vehicle accident. It happened last night just before seven, when a 1999 Toyota Tacoma ran off the edge of  US 101 south of Leggett and went onto a dirt embankment.

The California Highway Patrol says the driver — Clayton Chaney of Redding — then over corrected, causing the truck to spin, hit a guardrail, then flip. Chaney and his passenger, Robert Talbott of Corning, had to be cut from the wreckage and were taken to Howard memorial Hospital with major injuries. They’re members of the Shasta County Sheriff’s search and rescue squad – and had been in the area on assignment.
