Two drug arrests at Hoopa motel

HOOPA- A call to check on two children in a Hoopa motel leads to the arrest of two people.

Thursday morning, Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies, child welfare services, and Hoopa Tribal police officers went to the Tsewenaldin Inn.

Once at the room, they saw suspected heroin and hypodermic syringes all within reach of the children.

They got a search warrant and found about 8-grams of packaged heroin, over 100 syringes, drug paraphernalia, handgun ammo and parts of an AR 15.

Deputies arrested 33-year old Justin McCovey of Hoopa, and 29-year old Heather Combs of Eureka.

They’re charged with possession of a narcotic controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sales and child abuse or endangerment.

Combs was also charged with providing false ID to a peace officer and revocation of probation.

She was already wanted on a felony warrant for car theft.

The children are in child protective services.
