Rescue Crews Pull a Child from the Water Near Big Lagoon

Humboldt County, Ca., (KIEM)- A child is airlifted from the ocean, swept away near Big Lagoon.

The call was received by the US Coast Guard, Sector Humboldt Bay by 3:20 p.m. Saturday. In under 18 minutes a helicopter was dispatched from McKinleyville a lifeboat from Samoa to search for the girl.

She was located near Agate Beach, close to Patrick’s Point State Park.  The Coast Guard hoisted her up into their helicopter. She was then taken to St. Joseph Hospital for emergency medical care.

There is no word yet on her condition, and no further details about her identity have been released.
