Man dies in pedestrian crash

MIRANDA- One man is dead after he was struck by a semi-truck in Southern Humboldt.

According to law enforcement, it happened at five Monday morning on Highway 101 north of the Salmon Creek exit. The man was in the roadway when he was hit by the tractor-trailer.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The northbound lanes were closed for most of the day and traffic was diverted to the Avenue of the Giants.
