California Supreme Court denies appeal of man sentenced for murdering a Eureka priest

SAN FRANCISCO, CA. – The State of California says a man convicted of killing a Eureka priest, will remain in jail.

Gary Lee Bullock of Redway was found guilty of murdering Reverend Eric Freed at Saint Bernard Catholic Church in 2014.

Bullock was also convicted of burglary, car theft, attempted arson, and infliction of torture.

He was sentenced in April of 2016 to two life sentences, without the possibility of parole.

Bullock submitted an appeal in 2017, claiming his Miranda rights had been violated.

On Wednesday, the California Supreme Court denied that request.
