Cal Fire Burn Permits Required May 1, 2018

FORTUNA – As it is getting closer to summer, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, would like to remind residents that a Cal Fire burn permit is required for non-standard burn permit holders starting May 1, 2018.

Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity residents who want to get vegetation off of their property by burning are required to get an annual burn permit.

There’s expected to be an increase in wildfire activity this year due to recent precipitation that’s caused rapid growth of vegetation, which will then dry out and become very flammable in the coming months.
