Celebrating Educators: Presenting the Distinguished Educator of the Year Award

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- This weekend, educators from across the county receive very special accolades. The award for distinguished teacher of the year is given by the Humboldt Mason’s Lodge Number 79.

It’s no secret that teaching can be a trying career choice, but for Morris Elementary school teacher Amber Coley (an award recipient at last night’s teacher of the year ceremony in Eureka) It’s a labor of love.

Mrs. Coley also told Redwood News she feels in a lot of ways teaching is like a public service career. You don’t do it to retire early. You do it because you want to see future generations become successful citizens. Coley says troop 79 is a big supporter of Morris Elementary and of education in the area.
