Pursuit ends in arrest

EUREKA – Two stolen cars and two pursuits, lead to one suspect in custody. Eureka police saw a stolen grand am traveling on Broadway just after 11 Sunday night, and the driver would not pull over.

Police say a pursuit ensued with the car ramming a police car, and hitting a parked car in the Ridgewood area. Officers stopped the pursuit over safety concerns, but recognized the driver as 19-year old Kayleigh Rose Ammon.

Later, the car was found abandoned at Elder and D streets, but Ammon no where around. Then this morning at about 6:30, police answered a call about a stolen truck on D street.

An hour later, the victim saw his Dodge and followed it, confronting the driver when she stopped on Valley Drive. Police say Kayleigh Ammon gave him the keys, and ran.

She was arrested minutes later. She’s charged with two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, and evading police.
