Two Arcata men face drug charges

ARCATA- Two men face charges in connection with an illegal marijuana grow, and drug possession in Arcata.

On April 13th, Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies answered a call for a welfare check at a home on Abbot Lane. Once there, they smelled marijuana coming from a detached garage apartment, and found signs of the illegal growing operation. After that, the sheriff’s drug enforcement unit began investigating the property.

During their search yesterday morning, deputies found almost 1,200 marijuana plants, plus cocaine, suspected methamphetamine and hallucinogenic mushrooms.

33-year old Ian MacDougall was cited for several misdemeanor drug charges. 33-year old Zach Simas was cited for misdemeanor possession of cocaine.
