Man Arrested For Violently Resisting an Officer in Arcata

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM)- A National City man is behind bars after allegedly violently resisting an officer in Arcata.

According to police a 26 year-old was walking straight down the middle of south bound traffic on K street, completely blocking a lane. This happened around 11:00 a.m Sunday.

Motorists were forced to swerve to avoid hitting the pedestrian, so officers responded to the mounting public safety hazard. Arcata police say they would attempt to talk the man off of the roadway.

After ignoring commands, Nathaniel Cobb III allegedly began to actively resist. Fighting an officer. According to APD Cobb was tazed and pepper sprayed before being detained.

He was evaluated at Mad River Community Hospital; he is now booked at the Humboldt county correctional facility. The officer is recovering from minor injuries.
