Eureka proposed budget proposes new ideas

EUREKA., Ca (KIEM)- Eureka city council will consider a proposed operating budget tomorrow.

This year about 63.5 million dollars will be put towards improving city operations. That’s a one percent increase from last years adopted budget, but the cities financial department still has a few challenges to face.

For the coming year. The city plans to ramp up the quality of our roads.

Each year Eureka spends about three million dollars on street maintenance. To speed up the process, city staff is recommending a new 1/4 sales tax. The proposed tax will be on the 2018 November ballot.
