North Coast residents sign petition against HACHR

volunteers-find-over-100-needles-during-eureka-waterfront-cleanupNorth Coast residents want to see change and one community member is taking action with a petition against HACHR in Humboldt County.

The petition, has around 1,700 signatures, is expected to get to 2,500 by June 5th, when it will be presented to the Board of Supervisors and the Eureka City Council.

Petition supporters believe the Humboldt Area Center for Harm Reduction has played a direct role in the amount of needle litter in the area.

It states that HACHR has caused, now the everyday citizen, adults and children, as well as animals to be susceptible to everything a needle exchange program was supposed to prevent Hepatitis, HIV, and other needle-borne diseases.
