ARCATA- The Arcata Fire Department and Arcata Police on Monday conducted tsunami simulation training based off of Crescent City’s 2011 tsunami. Kylie Walker of Redwood News has the story.

Today’s training specifically focused on the Manila and Arcata bottoms area. In the simulation around six fire crew members circled in high priority zones that would be a floods first target. Crew members said they will circle the area for hours and prepare for flooding, until 30 mins prior to the actual disaster. Then they wait on higher ground for the danger to pass.

Fire Captain, John Busher says not everyone has access to phones that alert of tsunami warnings so they circle the streets and warn people via driving.
