Northern California fire season: Tracking the Flat and Creek Fires

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- A strike team of first responders returns home from Lake County, after helping to fight the Pawnee Fire. That wild  land blaze is not the only active incident close to the North Coast that Cal Fire is tracking.

According to Cal Fire the 300 acre Flat Fire is already 19% contained. It started just two days ago, and its cause is still under investigation. So far no one has been injured and no structures have been damaged by the flames near reading creek. Cal fire says aggressive attack from the ground and air have helped keep evacuations and road closures from becoming necessary.

Meanwhile, the Creek Fire nears containment. Having plowed through 11 structures. Four were homes. The 16-hundred acre wild land fire is now 97% contained. 285 people remain on site, helping with fire suppression and repair work. Only one injury has been reported in connection with the fire.
