Toys donated to dogs at local shelter to ease firework anxiety

MCKINLEYVILLE, Calif. (KIEM) – “Operation Kong and Bones” is in full force at the Humboldt County Animal Shelter.

With such sensitive hearing, our canine companions can get rather stressed on holidays like the Fourth of July.

To ease the anxiety, donations were dropped off to the shelter in McKinleyville – including five boxes of bones from Rover’s Choice, and 30 Kong toys from Redwood Pals Rescue.

The shelter hopes the gifts will bring comfort to the dogs as 4th of July celebratory fireworks continue in the area.

They remind pet owners to keep their dogs indoors during fireworks displays, and that identification collars and microchips are especially important this time of year. It can be particularly stressful for pets during this time of the year as many people will be letting fireworks off to celebrate the Fourth of July festivities. As well as following the list above, pet owners may want to consider using cbd for pets to aid with their suffering so that they are able to get through the night as relaxed and as stress-free as possible. Fireworks can affect pets in many ways, so it is important that owners do everything they can to ensure their safety during this night.
