North Coast Assemblymember’s wildfire insurance information bill signed by governor

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KIEM) – In response to raging wildfires, a bill on wildfire insurance policies, penned by a North Coast representative, reaches the governor’s desk.

Since intense fires last fall destroyed many homes, and continue to do so, Assemblymember Jim Wood finds is necessary that insurance companies provide more clear and definitive information about discounts, and fire safe programs, to policyholders.

AB 2229 aims to ‘incentivize homeowners to better understand and take advantage of any fire safety related discounts from their insurer’.

Governor Brown gave his signature of approval on Monday.

Wood has authored five other wildfire related bills, which he hopes will make it to the governor’s desk before Labor Day.
