Filing dates to run for Eureka mayor, councilmember begin Monday

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – There is time to file papers to run for councilmember or mayor of Eureka.

The city is reminding residents that filing dates start in three days, on July 16 at 8AM, and continues through august 10 at 5PM.

Nomination papers are available at the City Clerk’s office, in room 208 in of City Hall on K Street.

They are accepting nominations for mayor,  and councilmember for the first, third, and fifth wards.

These are each full four year terms.

You must be 25 years or older to run for mayor, and be a resident of Eureka.

Council candidates must be a registered voter in the particular ward they are running for.
