39-year-old Donald Lee Bardwell Jr.

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- A vehicle reported stolen on July 10 has now been recovered. A Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputy recognized the stolen vehicle travelling west on Highway 299 near Blue Lake. At a little after midnight on July 14, the driver merged onto Highway 101 south. That’s when, with backup from California Highway Patrol and the Arcata Police Department, the deputy would pull over and arrest the driver.

39-year-old Donald Bardwell Jr., allegedly the driver of that stolen vehicle is now behind bars at the Humboldt County Jail. A passenger of the vehicle was released at the scene.

The traffic stop on the 2200 block of Baldwin street in Arcata would lead to Bardwell being charged with possession of stolen property and theft. He was also, according to officers, driving without a license.
