Vegetation fire burns half acre in Arcata

ARCATA- A vegetation fire burned a half acre Monday afternoon in Arcata.

It happened just before 12:30 at 14th and M streets, and took crews around 15 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

Quick action prevented the fire from spreading to near-by structures. There are several homeless camps located near where the fire burned.

Humboldt Bay and Samoa Peninsula also responded to the scene.

The cause is under investigation.
