ARCATA- It’s a sad day for Humboldt State football. The coaching staff and players were informed Tuesday afternoon, the program won’t continue after the 2018 season.

The community came together last season and raised the $500,000 needed to keep the program going. But according to interim athletic director Duncan Robins, the funding wasn’t met and only $329,000 was collected.

HSU president Lisa Rossbacher, who is out of town, made the decision to cut football.

The Lumberjacks report to training camp for the final season August 6.
