EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) – At 72-years-old, skateboarding legend Patti McGee doesn’t get on her board quite as much as she used to, but she’s still making the rounds – this time from border to border.

McGee is on a mission to coast her way up California, through to Canada. On Monday evening, Redwood News met with McGee in Eureka.

She is well-known for her win at the Women’s National Skateboarding Championship in 1964, being the cover image of Life magazine the following year.

McGee was also inducted into the Skateboard Hall of Fame in 2010.

Her goal for this trip is to make stops at skate shops all the way up to Vancouver.

Shop owners are encouraged to contact her through social media.

Her next stop will be in Redding later this week.
