FORT BRAGG, CALIF. (KIEM) – Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay finds an abandoned boat, about a month after an emergency rescue of its passengers.

This video shows the vessel, called the Kelaerin, that Sector Humboldt Bay found on Sunday while on routine patrol near Fort Bragg.

On June 16, the owners of the boat were sailing from Hawaii to Bellingham, Washington when a storm broke out, tearing their sail, and leaving them disabled.

The couple was saved by a Coast Guard Sector Columbia River helicopter crew, based out of Oregon.

Over a month later, the couple probably didn’t ever expect to see their boat again, but on Monday, Humboldt Bay crews brought it back to shore, and notified the owners of its finding.
