103,772 acres burned by Carr Fire in Shasta, Trinity County

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – At least six people are dead as the Carr Fire continues to burn through the City of Redding.

Flames have grown to more than 103,000 thousand acres.

The fire has claimed the lives of a great-grandmother and her two grandchildren.

A fire inspector and a bulldozer operator also died while battling the flames.

The other victim has not yet been identified.

Officials with Cal Fire say although growth has been slowed in parts of the city, flames persist in the rural areas and deep into wooded areas.

Some evacuations were lifted as of Monday morning, but thousands more residents, as well as wildlife in the area, remain displaced.

According to officials, it could still be some time before more residents can begin to return to their homes.
