Eureka Police Department cracks down with new program, CSET

The Eureka Police Department has a new unit — called the Community Safety Enhancement Team, or CSET.

EPD says the mission of the CSET team is to address the quality of life, and crime rates in old town and Eureka’s park areas. Patrol Captain, Brian Stephens tells us the crime suppression team is now staffed with a sergeant, two park rangers, an old town officer, and a homeless liaison officer. Stephens says this gives them seven-day-a-week coverage on the new trail system.

Captain Stephens tells us, they’ve already made great strides, even while in their first stages of development. Stephens tells us the c-set team is funded by measure z.
