Australian firefighters join the battle against Northern California blazes

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- 13 firefighters from New South Wales are gearing up to join the fight against the largest wildfire in state history, the Mendocino Complex. A total of 150 Australian firefighters will be assigned to tackle the blazes raging across the state (and throughout the west). They may also be assigned to fight the Carr Fire.

Senator Mike McGuire met with leaders from an Australian delegation from New South Wales to discuss firefighting efforts and fire recovery.

“We are so grateful for the firefighting support that has been deployed from New South Wales and across Australia and New Zealand. These hard working men and women are on the ground ready to help fight the Carr Fire, the Mendocino Complex Fires and blazes throughout the West.” Senator McGuire says, “Thousands of emergency responders have come together to keep our communities safe and fight these devastating blazes on all fronts and we are so thankful for their partnership.”
