Evacuations in place for new Hat Fire burning in northeast Shasta County

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) -. A new fire in Shasta County, the so-called Hat Fire, is causing for evacuations in north east Shasta County.

The fire took on 800 acres after breaking out Thursday afternoon, is 0% contained.

132 firefighters are being redirected to tackle the Hat Fire before it becomes much bigger.

Highway 299 east is in this area closed, as well as Fish Hatchery Road.

Evacuees being directed to stay at the Adin Community Center.
