Mendocino Complex Fire reaches 406,532 acres

MENDOCINO COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – The state’s largest wildfire on record, the Mendocino Complex fire, breaks 400,000 acres in size.

As of Tuesday, the complex has torn through 406,532 areas.

For perspective, the state’s former largest wildfire was 281,893 acres – that being the Thomas Fire in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, last year.

The Mendocino Complex’s two halves have very different stories, the River Fire is completely contained. However, the Ranch Fire is just 67% contained.
