Carr Fire 9% away from being fully contained

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM) – The Carr Fire is just 9% away from being fully contained.

It’s been nearly a month since the deadly blaze broke out in Whiskeytown on July 23.

As of Tuesday, the massive blaze sits at over 229,651 acres, and is 91% contained.

The Carr Fire’s cause is linked to a mechanical failure of a vehicle.

It’s destroyed 1,079 homes, among hundreds of other kinds of structures.

It’s also claimed 8 lives – that of 3 firefighters, and 5 civilians.
