Explosive Device Found in McKinleyville

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- Doing landscaping work, a passerby discovers a suspicious package on the 1800 block of Murray Road in McKinleyville.

The object was found around 2:30 p.m. Monday, and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was dispatched to the scene. The bomb squad soon learned, the person doing landscaping had found a home-made explosive device.
The bomb was disabled and removed, but the case remains under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the public, if you encounter a suspicious package or anything you might think could be an explosive device, call 9-1-1 immediately.
