Development is underway for the College of the Redwoods athletic program. CR started their athletic program in 1965. Since then, there have been no major renovations. The project will cost well into the millions when it is completed.

The new track and tennis courts have been resurfaced and refurbished in the matter of three months, but the new stadium won’t be finished for 2-3 years.

And until then, CR athletes will be utilizing Humboldt State University’s facilities for their home games. The renovations don’t stop there, Brown tells us they are also in the initial phases of building and relocating their physical education building.

Brown says the scoreboard alone costs around $100,000 and most of the funding comes from the state.
