Cleaner air allows firefighters to battle Kerlin Fire from aircraft on Friday

TRINITY COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – The Kerlin Fire in Trinity County is fluctuating in estimated acreage again, and is expected to be about 1,228 acres as of Friday.

The Kerlin Fire is still 0% contained. Evacuation mandates remain for Hyampom, and a shelter is available at Solid Rock Church in Hayfork. Updates on evacuated areas can be found, here.

393 firefighting personnel, along with three helicopters and air tankers, are all dedicated to blaze. Firefighters say cleaner air allowed them to use aircraft on Friday.

The Kerlin Fire started on Tuesday, and the cause is under investigation.
