Eureka, Ca., (KIEM)- Care providers are claiming they’ve soiled themselves at their stations, denied bathroom breaks on their shifts at St. Joseph Hospital. The National Union of Healthcare Workers is declaring a staffing crisis at the Eureka medical center and Redwood Memorial Hospital.

According to Allen McCloskey, a union steward and lab technician, at least two patient deaths are being investigated because the hospital used bed alarms instead of hands-on care. McCloskey says, “We are offering concrete proposals that the hospital can implement to remedy this crisis, and they have ignored us.”

Redwood News has reached out to St. Joseph to respond to the claims, they have not yet released a statement.
