Community raises funds for domestic violence services in honor of Astraia Muir

EUREKA, CA (KIEM)-A silver lining behind a dark tragedy. $1,750 has been raised in honor of Astraia Muir.

Muir was a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Eureka. Muir was known for her dedication to her community and the individual attention she gave to each patient. On august 3rd she was murdered by her estranged husband. During this year’s California Nurses Association Labor Day Picnic an out pouring of support from healthcare unions and the community raised $1,750 to Humboldt Domestic Violence Services.
