CRESCENT CITY – Del Norte County Supervisors oppose Proposition 6 on a 3 – 2 vote after an hour long debate.
The reason for this outcome is because of the importance of Last Chance Grade and the new alignment for the community.
Chairman Chris Howard told Redwood News that they need the Senate Bill 1 funding in order to continue the ongoing work of Caltrans projects.
Also Prop 6 would impact their county road budget. Chairman of Yes On 6 Carl Demaio told us in a statement:
Don’t be fooled by a PR stunt by politicians of a few projects being approved in the middle of the Yes On 6 – Gas Tax Repeal Campaign. Only a fraction of the existing gas tax goes to any road projects currently with the rest stolen and wasted by politicians.
