Humboldt County SWAT takes on intense 48-hour training

SAN FRANCISCO, CA., (KIEM)- For an intense forty-eight hours straight, Humboldt County’s SWAT team takes part in thirty six simulations and exercises to sharpen their elite response skills. The team has just returned from “Urban Badge” in the Bay Area.

Sheriff Honsal went to the bay area with the team, and says he was impressed by how officers worked through every simulation and test (designed to put them through their paces) and says he’s proud of the skills they bring back to Humboldt County.

SWAT stands for “Special weapons and tactics.” The team is trained to respond to hostage situations, and other delicate tactical situations. In Humboldt County, SWAT officers work on the team part time. They all have regular patrol duties, and come together once a month to train and test.
