EUREKA, CA., (KIEM)- A stolen big rig slams into a tree at the Eureka Elk’s Lodge on Herrick Avenue (according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office). It was 6:23 p.m. on Sunday, and HCSO dispatch started to receive calls from citizens who described the suspect.

They said they saw a white man in a black hooded coat leaving the semi-truck and running with a rifle to the trailer park next door. The suspect was seen entering a trailer at Number 14, Fairway Mobile Estates. Deputies set up a perimeter.

At that point, a Humboldt Alert was issued. Residents in the area where warned about the armed suspect, and told to shelter in place. The suspect, now identified as Patrick Holt is now in custody.

Following a search, officers located numerous stolen items inside Number 14. One of those items was a firearm. Ayers Distributing in Eureka had, by this point, reported the semi-truck stolen.

Holt, the only person found by authorities inside the trailer is now booked at the Humboldt County Jail. He’s charged with theft and unlawful taking or driving of a vehicle, burglary, felon in possession of a fire arm, resisting or delaying a peace officer, and felony vandalism. He was also booked on a separate and unrelated warrant.
