LOS ANGELES, Ca. (KIEM) – Years after moving away from Eureka to pursue her dreams, Sara Bareilles isn’t just a singing superstar, she’s an actress, too – and that’s something worth singing about.

Bareilles was up for her first Emmy award on Monday, for “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, or Movie”, for her work done on NBC, in a live-broadcasted production of musical “Jesus Christ Superstar”.

Competition was fierce, with Bareilles up against:

  • Penelope Cruz, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story
  • Judith Light, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story
  • Adina Porter, American Horror Story: Cult
  • Merritt Wever, Godless
  • Letitia Wright, Black Museum (Black Mirror)

In the end, Bareilles lost against Merritt Weever, but according to her Instagram feed, took the loss with a piece of pizza.

We do suspect Sara will be back for an Emmy. She’s now been nominated for this Emmy, multiple Grammy’s, and Tony awards, too.
