Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) Glen Paul held its 5th Annual Transportation Day as a fun and informative learning event. Classes have been studying transportation in the classroom and this event emerged as a means of reinforcing that learning. This collaborative event expands traditional learning by bringing public and emergency vehicles, and its operators, to the campus for an up-close, hands-on experience.

Students were allowed to get on and explore the vehicles. Participants received a sticker to put into their student booklets as they visited each vehicle.

In addition to learning about vehicles another mission of Lyon’s was to help children become familiar with rescue personnel and their vehicles, in hope, of reducing student’s fears if they are ever in a situation when they need to be rescued.

Vehicles in attendance:

  • Fire truck from Humboldt Bay Fire
  • Police Car from the Eureka Police Department
  • Bus from Humboldt Transit Authority
  • Garbage Truck from Recology Humboldt County
