ORLEANS, CA., (KIEM)- Just after 5:30 p.m. Friday night, Humboldt County Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to the Humboldt/Siskiyou county line. There, they found a vehicle that went over a cliff on State Route 96.

One passenger made it out of the car before it went over the edge, another man did not. His body was found outside the vehicle, about 100 feet from the Klamath River. Due to steep terrain and the remote location, the body was not recovered on Friday night. A team from Orleans Volunteer Fire Department have sent a boat on the Klamath River to work on recovery today.
