Last day of Rummage Sale at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) The sale you’ve been waiting for all year has come and gone. The 53rd Annual Rummage Sale put on by Humboldt Sponsors, a local non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to benefit the children of Humboldt County, is over until next year.

Before the doors closed, Humboldt County locals swarmed Redwood Acres Fairgrounds in hopes of finding a good bargain. From houseware, furniture to electronics. There was something for everyone and 4 locations on the fairgrounds to shop.

Department chair, Patty Thomas, shared that last year the rummage sale was able to raise over $100,000 for the youth and none of this would be possible without the Florence Crittenton home.

“For a home in San Francisco called the Florence Crittenton home and it was a home for unwed mothers and it was just a small group of women,” said Thomas. “They raised money to send young girls down there to have their babies but then they decided this money was going out of the county and wanted to keep it local.”

100 percent of all proceeds are granted to local youth-related organizations that support recreational, educational, and cultural needs within the county.
