ARCATA, CA., (KIEM)- An off-beat comedy from director Jim Hosking, An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn is set to make its debut in Humboldt County this week.

The movie was shot almost exclusively on the North Coast, with the production spending about $300,000 in Humboldt County. 140 locals appear in the background or are featured as actors.

Straight from the Los Angeles Premiere, Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commissioner Cassandra Hesseltine joined Sierra Ferguson live in studio to talk about the “indie style” comedy.

The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, and is set to be released officially October 16. But Humboldt County residents have a unique opportunity to attend an advances screening at the Minor Theater in Arcata. The screenings will be held at the Minor Theater in Arcata on Thursday, October 11th at 6 pm and Sunday, October 14th at 12 noon, with doors opening a half an hour prior to each event.

The red carpet events are for local cast and crew, however, a portion of the tickets will be made available for purchase to the public four days before each event. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at the Minor Theatre’s website or in person at the box office.
