“The Great Shakeout” is this Thursday

EUREKA, Ca., (KIEM)- The “Great California Shakeout” is this week, Thursday October 18th. The “shakeout” is held annually on the the 3rd Thursday of October, and the focus is earthquake preparedness.

It’s a chance to go over emergency drills, and practice the recommended “Drop, Cover and Hold On” procedure. The Humboldt County Emergency Alert System will also be activated on Thursday after 10:15 a.m. If you’ve signed up for alerts you may receive a message. If not, the sheriff’s office recommends signing up at humboldtgov.org/alerts.
