Fortuna woman arrested for writing bad check

FORTUNA (KIEM)- Quick action by a Fortuna business and law enforcement lands one woman in jail who has a history of writing bad checks.

Fortuna police were contacted by a business owner who reported that a customer identified as 50 year-old Nina Viescas, of Fortuna, had written a check of more than $400. That check was returned by the bank as the account was closed for more than a year.

Fortuna police then discovered Viescas had been writing checks with the same closed account and had a 2014 warrant for writing bad checks.

Police arrested Viescas at her residence and was booked on a local warrant along with a warrant out of Mendocino County. They will also seek charges from Thurday’s incident.
