Humboldt County Residents Join in on Statewide Effort to Recall Governor Gavin Newsom

EUREKA (KIEM) – Several Humboldt County residents are joining in a statewide movement to recall incumbent governor Gavin Newsom.

The statewide effort started with Erin Cruz down in Southern California. In order to get petition on the ballot by 2020, more than 150,000 signatures are needed.

Over the weekend, organizers were collecting signatures by Costco and estimated about 100 signatures per hour.

Organizers say, they are predicting about 500 signatures here in Humboldt County. Today was the first deadline of the petition, but organizers will still continue to collect signatures till February 2020.

Back in 2003, voters recalled former Governor Gray Davis. He was then replaced by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
