Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 Leaves One Person in the Hospital

ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM) – One person is taken to the hospital after sustaining head injuries from a vehicular crash on highway 101.

The incident happened around 6:15 p.m. Monday evening a mail truck heading westbound on Indianola Cutoff was crossing over the northbound lanes to make a left turn onto the freeway.

Two witnesses observed the mail truck that was heading westbound, enter into the northbound lanes into the path of the s-u-v and struck the right rear side of the s-u-v causing it to overturn onto the right shoulder.

Two vehicles were involved.

As of right now, all indications show that the mail truck drove into the path of the SUV.

Officers are still investigating. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
