Phil Donahue on Campaign Trail with 2nd District Candidate
Hall of fame broadcaster and winner of 20 daytime Emmy’s Phil Donahue is on the campaign trail with Norman Solomon. Solomon is running for a congressional seat for the second district which now includes the North Coast, the pair made a campaign stop to chat with voters in southern Humboldt; they were at Persimmons in Redway. Donahue is known for his advocacy with consumer rights, feminism, civil rights and gay rights and he’s lending his support to Solomon who is the independent democratic candidate. Both Donahue and Solomon have supported an end to what they call a “war-state”… and Donahue says that’s just one of their common views. “I’m here because I believe Norman Solomon is right on all of the issues,” Donahue said. “This is a big deal for me I’m having the time of my life as you might know when you have a program on the air you can't really speak for a candidate because when you’re on the air your supposed to be in the center of all issues and all candidacies.”
