EUREKA – Police respond when a woman stuck on the side of Highway 101 reports a man making threats and throwing rocks at her broken down vehicle.

When eureka police arrived, things got more violent.

59-year-old Reed Tardy was in a tent near the vehicle just north of Slough Bridge when officers arrived.

OLD TOWN EUREKA - Eureka’s finest were out and about Tuesday morning answering questions and enjoying a cup of Joe with local residents.

It’s was another addition of Coffee with the Captains held this morning at Ramone’s Bakery in Old Town Eureka. It is an outreach program that takes place in a different local almost quarterly throughout the year.

SOUTHERN HUMBOLDT - It’s ramping up again. Law enforcement is warning the public of an increase in burglary activity in Southern Humboldt.

Early Tuesday morning just after 4, deputies responded to the 200-block of Arthur Road in Garberville. A resident reported an unknown suspect forcibly entered their home and had to be chased off the property. Some personal items were stolen.
