One man is dead after a vehicle accident on Highway 299, just West of Willow Creek. The call came in around 8pm Thursday evening. The California Highway Patrol tells us an elderly male was driving a Kia Forte westbound on 299, as the driver began to turn, his car traveled into the eastbound lane, crossed the double yellow lines, and hit a woman driving a Subaru.

The Karuk and Yurok tribe are gathering permits and access to land to lay the broadband connection that will bring hundreds internet and phone service. The tribes are working together and get the process going.


Both tribes have a $6.2 million for the project and $6.6 million secured from a grant to the Karuk tribe by the California Public Utilities Commission.
