FORTUNA- A Eureka man is in jail after officers found 68 pounds of marijuana in his car. Fortuna Police said Kristian Mohorovich, 19, was at the Riverwalk 76 gas station Monday morning when an officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from his vehicle.

After a nine month remodel the Arcata Community Kitchen has several kitchens available for rent. The Community Development runs the management of the kitchen that the city has owned for 20 years.

Arcata Police are investigating two burglaries, one Monday afternoon and the other reported on Sunday. Arcata Police said the suspected burglar stole a purse from an unlocked car on the 1900 block of Baldwin Street on Monday.

A Eureka block is “all clear” after being shut down for a bomb investigation.


It happened at 1757 I Street around noon. The Humboldt county bomb squad robot checked out the device, as Eureka Police shut down an entire block and evacuated some residents.

A homicide suspect and fatal crash suspect will both have to wait at least another month for their cases to move forward.


For Michael Youravish, the suspect in a McKinleyville stabbing homicide, preliminary setting has been pushed back two more months. He’s accused of murdering 33-year-old Forrest Croft Lovejoy in the “C” Avenue area of McKinleyville in June 2013.

Three people have been arrested after shots were fired in a Eureka neighborhood over the weekend.

Two arrests were made on Saturday night. Eureka police said they received several calls for service to an apartment on the 800 block of H Street. When they were on their way they heard a shot fired. Officers located two subjects, 36-year-old Thomas Frank and 18-year-old Caleb Hoffarth....
