The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors are facilitating a meeting between various stakeholders and residents in the Elk River area. Residents came to the supervisors last spring about their concerns over flooding in the community.

At 10:20 am this morning, police responded to a shots fired call at a building near Cash & Carry north of Eureka. A man who reportedly had a rifle was taken into custody.  There is no motive and police are on scene interviewing two victims. People in the area were evacuated and there were no reported injuries. 

Two Humboldt county residents are charged for violating the clean water act.  The civil complaint was for violations for illegal mining of sensitive wetlands in the Bridgeville area off of highway 36.

Former Yurok Forestry Director accused of embezzling a million dollars from the Yurok tribe will face sentencing Friday. Ronald Raymond plead guilty to taking federal funds from the tribe in a previous hearing. Raymond faces a maximum of 37 months in jail in federal prison.

Eureka Police have arrested an 18-year-old Eureka High Student they believe is responsible for shooting two other students with a pellet gun last week.

The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Katie Helberg to come forward.

She was last seen at her home in Eureka on Saturday morning and was reported missing on Sunday night. Katie’s family said that she has health issues and needs medication.
